Rums

Rum is a hard alcohol made from fermented sugar. There are different types of rum, which include: Light rums, Gold rums, Dark rums, Spiced rums, Flavored rums, and Premium rums.

Light Rums

Light rums are often referred to as white rums or silver rums. They have no color and are light in flavor. They are distilled and filtered many times in order to remove impurities as well as the color. They are not aged as long as other types of rum.

Gold Rums

Gold rums are also referred to as amber rums. They have a richer flavor than other types and they are also aged longer. They’re aged in wooden casks, which causes them to have a dark hue and a woodsy flavor.

Dark Rums

Dark rums are also known as Black rums. They are a little richer in flavor and in hue than Gold rums. Dark rums are aged the longest out of all of the different rum types. They have a pungent flavor with a hint of other flavors as well. This type of rum is used in most cocktails and is great for cooking with.

Spiced Rums

Spiced rums are very similar to the Dark rums in both flavor and color. They’re aged the same way as dark rums. The difference is that caramel coloring and spices are added, which creates a spicy taste.

Premium Rums

Premium rums are high-end rums that contain an elite label. They’re very expensive. They’re usually purchased by rum connoisseurs and are usually consumed straight.

Cocktails Made With Rum

There are many cocktails that are made from rum, some of which are very popular drinks. One such drink is the Pina Colada, which originated on the island of Puerto Rico. They’re especially very popular with people who enjoy island drinks. They’re made with coconut and pineapple. Daiquiris, such as Strawberry Daiquiris are also very popular. They contain rum, syrup, lime or lemon juice. Mojitos were actually one of Ernest Hemmingway’s favorite drinks. They are traditional Cuban cocktails that include spearmint, rum, sugar, lime, and club soda.
